About the exhibition

The two Birtish artists combine conceptualism and body art with humour and slapstick in existential, tragic and at the same time comic episodes. The rational, experimental structure of the videos turns into absurdity by the dramatic usage of everyday objects and the personal interaction of the artists.

The video work 'The Only Other Point' plays with our knowledge about physical laws while misleading our senses and expectations. The deceiving of the organs of perception is a connecting point to this year's leading topic in the Schafhof, the Illusion. On the level of the content the artists create an illusion of rationality by means of the seemingly logical processes. The consecutive, pointed scenarios are set up as hermetically closed series of scientific experiments.

The interiors created by the artists - monochrome grey walls and minimalistic equipment - remind us of virtual simulations. At the same time these installations with their consciously designed form, material and composition may also be considered as sculptures. These are kinetic structures with moving elements, which become visible only for the time of the action.
